This year's Saskatoon Fringe Festival took place on July 30, 2026 to August 8, 2026 and once again, I was one of many buskers entertaining patrons as they wandered around Broadway and area meandering from venues to vendors. Some days, we had toasty temperatures other days were wet and gray but the smell of mini donuts and sounds of laughter were always in the air.

Musically, I felt the strongest I've ever been. I wasn't as nervous as I have been in the past and while I still occasionally lost my place or tripped on my words, I still feel like I did well. Money is not easy to come by as a busking musician despite non-stop compliments but with my new found comfort, I did start playing up my music in between songs which seems to have helped my bottom line.

With my chronic health problems slowly but surely worsening, I requested some minor accommodations which were happily granted however, it was still difficult for me to spend too much of my free time wandering the grounds, networking, and capturing the essence of the festival with my lens but I did the best I could. In particular, I love shooting my fellow performers. Busking can be a thankless job but necessary for any good outdoor festival and I feel it's important for me as both a busker and a photographer to present that to the world.

Lastly, I need to thank the organizers, volunteers, patrons, and all the performers - indoor and outdoor - for another fabulous Fringe Festival! Maholo!
